Football is the most popular sport in Brazil, winning the FIFA World Cup 5 times, the most of any team. Football is considered the country's most significant socio-cultural activity, not only a sport, but also an essential part of Brazil's cultural identity. Brazilians refer to their country as "o País do Futebol" ("the country of football").

SÉRIE A - BRASILEIRÃO
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, commonly referred to as the «Brasileirão» is Brazil’s primary football competition and at the top of the Brazilian football league system. It involves the top-20 domestic clubs, most of them with a very prestigious history and huge fanbases, such as: Flamengo, Corinthians, Palmeiras, São Paulo, Santos and Grêmio.

The Campeonato Paulista Série A1, is the oldest established league in Brazil and the top-flight professional football league in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The league is contested between 16 clubs. Rivalries amongst four of the best-known Brazilian teams have marked the history of the competition.
